Appointments

Contact us with eConsult

You can contact a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional online using a website called eConsult.

Urgent appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday) during opening times:

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment in advance during opening times:

We offer telephone appointments and face to face appointments. Telephone appointments are useful if you want advice and do not need to be examined.

For minor illness, reception is able to book an appointment with the minor illness nurse.

Arriving at your Appointment

Unfortunately, traffic can be very heavy in Leighton Buzzard at certain times and car parking facilities have limited spaces. If possible please find alternative parking so these spaces are available for the elderly, less mobile and parents with sick children. It would help us greatly if you planned to arrive on time for your appointment or let us know if you have been delayed. On arrival, you may choose either to check in at reception, or, for greater speed, use our touch screen booking-in system which can save you waiting at the reception desk. These are situated just inside the entrance and at reception.

Regrettably, if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, we may have to ask you to re-book. If our doctors or nurses are running more than 15 minutes late, reception will let you know on your arrival.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

We cannot stress enough the importance of cancelling your appointment if you are unable to attend or no longer need it. Currently an average of 400 appointments are wasted each month because people do not turn up. This means that you may have had to wait longer for your appointment and your care has been delayed because of it.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

We believe that home visiting is an essential part of General Practice. We encourage patients to come to surgery wherever possible, because special equipment, facilities and assistance are available if required. However, if you are too ill to attend surgery our doctors or paramedics will visit you at home. You will be asked a few questions by our Receptionist about your symptoms. The doctor or paramedic will ring you before they visit.

Whenever possible please contact the Surgery as early as possible (ideally before 11.00am) to request a visit.
